PURPOSE:To detect collision of a vehicle simply at high speed in an occupant protection device of the vehicle. CONSTITUTION:Output of an acceleration sensor 1 is input in a band pass filter 2 to extract a necessary frequency component, its peak value is detected by a peak detection circuit 3, and the value is compared with a reference value which is called out from a reference value hold means 5 and determined by the Rayleigh distribution in advance in a comparator 4 so as to output collision detection output.
