PURPOSE:To improve the image quality of a reproduced image by applying second-degree compensation processing thereby preventing interpolation of distorted data due to coding and applying interpolation to data like a low pass filter thereby reducing distortion due to coding. CONSTITUTION:A transmission section 1 applies thinning processing to image data and applies compression coding to the data and the result is sent to a reception section 2. The reception section 2 applies expansion decoding processing and interpolation processing to the received data to reproduce image data. In this case, a 2-picture element interpolation circuit 6 conducts secondary interpolation processing in which two adjacent picture elements are added to each other and the sum is divided by 2 to reproduce the image data. |
