PURPOSE:To obtain a TN liquid crystal display panel having improved visual angle characteristics in which liquid crystal molecules are arranged in random directions without causing irregularity of display due to injection of the liquid crystal material. CONSTITUTION:A pair of transparent substrates 1 are disposed facing to each other with a space in between, into which a liquid crystal material 6 is injected to produce a TN liquid crystal display panel. The panel contains liquid crystal molecules distributed at random with small intervals and shows improved visual angle characteristics. In this method, an oriented film such as polyvinyl alcohol, polyvinyl butyral, or polymethyl methacrylate is used so that the arrangement of liquid crystal molecules on the interface of the oriented film is made isotropic in the plane of the transparent substrates by heat treatment. After the liquid crystal material 6 is injected at a room temp., heat treatment is performed to eliminate display irregularity 8 due to injection of the liquid crystal material 6. The same effect can be obtd. by applying a mixture of a polymer orienting material and a polymer soluble in water or an org. solvent to form a oriented film and then removing the polymer soluble in water or the org. solvent by washing to roughen the surface of the oriented film. |
