PURPOSE:To obtain a recording medium excellent in mechanical strength by interposing an adhesion layer containing molecules of specified composition between an electrode layer and a recording layer. CONSTITUTION:The recording medium comprises an electrode layer 102, an adhesion layer 105, and a recording layer 103 formed sequentially on a substrate 101. The adhesion layer 105 is interposed between the electrode layer 102 and the recording layer 103 and has a composition of thiol group and a molecule having a siloxane bond. The thioi group, being adsorbed selectively by a base metal, is adsorbed chemically onto the electrode layer 102 to form a strong bond. When the recording layer 103 is formed thereon, the siloxane bond part located at the end of a molecule not pertaining to the adsorption is bonded to the recording layer 103 thus strengthening the bond between the adhesion layer 105 and the recording layer 103. Since a sufficiently high adhesion is achieved between the electrode layer 102 of base metal and the recording layer 103 of organic film, mechanical strength of recording medium can be enhanced.
