PURPOSE:To speed up processing calculation when a dot array in image data is approximated to a circle or arc, to make the circle or arc pass a start point and an end point without fail, and to eliminate the need for a special CPU for the calculation. CONSTITUTION:In the step S1, the circle or arc which passes three points in total, i.e., two end points of the object dot array and another point is assumed when the dot array in the image data is approximated to the circle or arc. In the step S2, it is decided whether or not the point of the dot array other than the former two points is on the circumference of the circle when the circle or arc is assumed in the step S1, and when the decision result is YES, it is decided in the step S3 that all the elements in the dot array are on the circumference, so that the dot array is recognized as the assumed arc. When the result is NO, on the other hand, an advance to the step S4 is made to decide that there is a point farther away from the circumference than a certain distance, so that the dot array is not approximated to the arc. The step S1 is a process for selecting representative points of the dot array and when those dot array is the arc, the two end points are the start point and end point of the arc. |
