摘要 PURPOSE: To obtain a liquid crystal display element which has uniform orientation property and excellent electrooptical characteristics, in which orientation is not destroyed by stress relaxation and which is excellent in memory property by incorporating a principal chain polyester high polymer liquid crystal into an oriented film. CONSTITUTION: The principal chain polyester high polymer liquid crystal is incorporated into the oriented film. It is desirable that the principal chain polyester high polymer liquid crystal has a structural unit expressed by formula. In formula (m) is 4 to 12 integer and (n) is 100 to 200 integer. The polyester high polymer liquid crystal expressed by formula is applied on upper and lower substrates to form the oriented film. In order to obtain an uniform coating the polyester high polymer liquid crystal is used as a soln. in a solvent and at that time 0.01 to 5wet.% concentration of the soln. is preferable. The concentration of the soln. and coating speed thereof are adjusted so that coating thickness of the oriented film does not exceed 1000μ.
