<p>PURPOSE:To effectively reduce block distortion with simple configuration as to the block distortion visually unpleasant caused in a decoded signal in the case of coding decoding processing in the unit of blocks. CONSTITUTION:A correction value calculation section 1 calculates a corrected value di based on a noticed picture element ni of a block adjacent position and values ni-1, ni+1 of picture elements in the vicinity of the noticed picture element. An upper/lower limit section 2 limits the corrected value di to be a value between -L and L (L is a prescribed limit value) to obtain a limited corrected value di'. The corrected value di' is added to the noticed picture element value ni to obtain a corrected value ni'. The noticed picture element value is replaced with the corrected value ni'. Thus, block distortion due to discontinuity at a block adjacent position is effectively reduced while preserving edge and point information required for a pattern with the circuit comprising a small number of components.</p> |
