PURPOSE:To execute an accurate automatic focusing action at a high speed by stopping the action of a second focusing means when an arithmetic operation output from an arithmetic means in the second focusing means is under a previously set level in the case that the focusing actions are executed by a first focusing means and the second focusing means in turn. CONSTITUTION:When the forming state of an object image is obtained, the first focusing means by self-correlation is driven first and the second focusing means by a climbing system is driven next. When the arithmetic operation output from the arithmetic circuit 7 by the climbing system is under the previously set level or an output from a photometry element 4 is under the previously set level, the action of the second focusing means is stopped and the focusing action is executed only by the first focusing means. Thus, the high-speed device with high focusing accuracy is obtained, which is constituted so that excessive release time lag is not caused and a photographing chance is not missed even in the case the brightness of the object is not enough at the time of photographing or the object is not suitable for the second focusing means. |
