摘要 <p>PURPOSE:To track a subject with high accuracy even when the subject has a small size. CONSTITUTION:The image data on a subject are given to an image processing circuit from an image pickup element and also given to a motion vector detecting circuit as video signals. The motion vector detecting circuit stores the data on the key point of a precedent field in a key point memory 90 via a latch circuit 56. The data on the key point and the data on the present field of each detected block (d) received from the latch circuits 76a-76d are calculated by the correlators 102a-102d. Thus the differential absolute value is obtained. It is noticed here that the detected blocks are overlapping with each other, and this state is controlled by a horizontal timing circuit 58 and a vertical timing circuit 60. The differential absolute value received from the correlators 102a-102d are added together by a cumulative adder 104. Then a motion vector is produced by a motion vector generating circuit 106 and outputted. The subject is tracked based on the motion vector.</p>
