PURPOSE:To easily select other receptible or selected broadcast station based on desired program classification information by discriminating whether or not same program classification information is in existence in the past and notifying it only when not in existence thereby using effectively one searching. CONSTITUTION:A control section 6 controls a PLL circuit 8 to set a channel selection frequency 'f' and discriminates whether or not a frequency obtained through a detection output of an intermediate frequency level is in existence in a set frequency. When in existence, whether or not the broadcast station is an RDS station is discriminated. When the broadcast station is the RDS station, a PTY (program classification information) obtained from RDS data of the station is used for an input PTY and whether or not the set PTY is coincident with the input PTY is discriminated. When coincident, reception processing is implemented at the frequency and the reception of the station selected at present is continued to terminate the PTY search processing.
