<p>PURPOSE:To provide an optical pulse compressing device capable of remarkably shortening a pulse width when an incident light solution is compressed and freely controlling the pulse width. CONSTITUTION:By transmitting the incident light solution through a rare-earth added optical fiber 3 in which its group speed dispersion is set to a negative, an the absolute value of the group speed dispersion is reduced gradually from a start edge to an end edge where a beam is made incident along the advance direction of beam, light pulse compression by the reduction in a dispersion value is caused. On the other hand, an exciting light beam emitted from an exciting light source 4 is coupled in the incident end of the rare-earth added optical fiber 3 by a photocoupler 5, and by increasing the energy of the incident light solution, even thermal insulation compression is caused. Further, by adjusting the intensity of the exciting light beam emitted from the exciting light source 4, the pulse width of the compressed light solution is controlled freely.</p> |
