PURPOSE:To make it possible to easily develop partially different liquid crystal oblique orientation angles together with good orientability within the same liquid crystal cell without attack of the surfaces of liquid crystal orientation treated films by solvent treatment, such as resist or developer thereof or peeling liquid. CONSTITUTION:This liquid crystal orientation treated substrate is produced by partially forming liquid crystal orientation treated films consisting of inorg. films contg. a metal nitrate compd. (for example, aluminum nitrate) having the liquid crystal oblique orientation angle different from the liquid crystal oblique orientation angle of a liquid crystal orientation treated film which is formed on a substrate with transparent electrodes on this liquid crystal orientation treated film and has the different liquid crystal oblique orientation angles on the film by photoirradiation of UV ray, etc. This process for producing the liquid crystal orientation treated substrate having the different liquid crystal oblique orientation angles within the same plane by applying a coating soln. consisting of polyhydric alcohol, etc., contg. the metal nitrate compd. on the liquid crystal orientation treated film which is formed on the substrate with the transparent electrodes and has the liquid crystal oblique orientation angles and curing this coating by partial irradiation with light after drying, then dissolving the parts not irradiated with the light by water, thereby removing these parts provided. |
