Infra-red radiator

An infra-red (IR) radiator has a flat radiation source between the reflector and the transparent cover, this being a carbon ribbon 1 in several continuous sections, held at their ends in seats 4. The first and last seats and a middle one are used as terminals 3. The ends of the sections are wrapped in graphite paper 2. The carbon ribbon is square-wave shaped. At the seats excluding those which are used as terminals, the ribbon ends are located in movable fashion. There is a central limb 5 between neighbouring sections of the ribbon, on either side of a terminal seat, used as a screen.
