For flash butt welding of rails, in a permanent way, the draw presence required to draw the laid rail against the end of the previously-welded rail section is measured, and combined with the butting force. If the draw force exceeds a given value, the welding is interrupted and, if lower than a given value, the measured draw force is added to a preset butting force.
