To cultivate micro-organisms by aerobic fermentation, the substrate is supplied with a gaseous oxidant. The fluid culture medium contains one or more substrates or nutrients. These are converted to an aerosol, mixed thoroughly with the oxidant phase and introduced into the culture medium.
