The turbocompressor has a shaft with running wheel in a casing, bearings for the shaft and sealing rings. The sealing ring system has only one ring (11) on the induction side (13) and one (12) on the compression side (14). The two rings are the same size. The greatest effective dia. (Dd) of the seal is at least 60 percent that of the running wheel (4-8,17). Both seals are sealed against the bypass pressure. If there is a difference between the axial force (15) from the wheel and the counter-pressure created by the ring seal, it can be levelled out by using a labyrinth seal of suitable dia.
