On-line weighing of pharmaceutical capsule for checking dosage of contents

The on-line capsule weighing utilises a transport mechanism (1) where the capsules (2) are separated individually and move with their long axis at right angles to their direction of motion, and individually placed on a weighing scale pan (15) which is then weighed. The capsule is then removed from the pan and a second weighing of the scale pan is performed, then the net capsule weight is calculated as the difference of the two readings. A toothed belt (4) separates individual capsules and runs on pulleys (5,6) driven by a stepping motor, positioning transverse capsule-containing parts (7) of the belt individually above the pan of a weighing mechanism (16).
