Waste material sorting system for extracting useful products

The sorting system has a first transport section for manual sorting and/or checking for metal parts within the waste material stream, followed by a further transport section for which a representative material sample is mechanically extracted. The extracted sample is evaluated via a measuring stage and the waste material fed to a respective collection container 919, 20, 21, 22) in dependence on the results of the evaluation. Pref. the sample is extracted by a stamping tool with evaluation of the pressure applied to the stamping tool.
