摘要 The fluorescent material measurement method involves measuring fluorescent light pulses of a material at delayed time intervals to excitation light pulses, sent at predetermined time intervals. Electrical signals are derived from individual photons of the fluorescence using a photo multiplier (9) with a measurement head (23) connected to a probe (5) via light pipes, and controlled by an electronic measuring unit, e.g. a microcontroller (16). The photomultiplier signals produce in an analogue/digital converter at least one bit. With the occurrence of many photons in the time intervals, a higher bit number is produced, proportional to the number of the photons, where the high voltage of the photomultiplier is reduced such that the signal falls within the digitalisation range. The photon-noise is also thus proportionally reduced, thus reducing the likelihood of producing a bit.
