Described is a roller, in particular a roller for grinding or de-agglomerating a variety of materials. The roller is suitable for any application in which roller deformation, leading to a non-constant roller opening, in particular at high loads, is a problem. The aim of the invention is to improve a prior art roller so that adjustment is possible to maintain a constant opening in different operating phases. The aim is achieved by virtue of the fact that the roller consists of a core and shell, with elastic elements fitted between the core and shell.
