A computerized system receives characters (219), each having an associated font (217). For each character-font combination received it accesses a pre-defined font description (in 122) of that combination's shape (453) and then generates a new font description (in 126) of that shape. Preferably when the characters have different fonts, the system automatically creates new font descriptions for all of them. Preferably the received characters are part of an input text (116), and the system produces an output text (104) which includes not only corresponding characters (219A), but also the new font descriptions necessary to define those character's shape. Preferably the output text can be transferred to other computers by recording media (130) or computer network (132). Preferably the new font descriptions are independent of the manner in which pre-defined font descriptions define character-font shapes. Preferably the system can render an image (in 110) of the output text, either on the computer which created it (102A, 102B), or on another computer (108A, 108B).
|
