Vibration damper with adjustable damping force

The damper has a pressure tube and piston with axially movable piston rod. It has a main-stage and pre-stage valves. The pre-stage valve has two alternating controllable control cross-sections (39a/b). The passing flow, depending on the direction, passes one of these and one no-return valve (31a/b) opening in the direction of flow. The control cross-section (39a/b) of the pre-stage valve consists of a seating surface (55a/b) in combination with a conical surface (53a/b). A further through-flow cross-section (59) merges with the control cross-section. The through-flow cross-section can be adjusted by an actuator path.
