In state of the art systems, the transmission of cells in a point-to-multipoint connection in ATM switching networks leads to the rejection of connections. This is remedied according to the invention by combining distribution/copying networks and by interconnecting them with a routing network. Furthermore, the cells to be copied are serially numbered following the respective copying processes and distributed among the outputs according to a random principle.
