Medical blood sampler and analyser

The blood sampler has a pierceable plug, in the open end of a container, which encloses a cavity between plug, base and sides for a fixed inside vessel (40) which sits below the plug and has sides and a pierceable, non-resealable base (50) and contains an additive (41) for use in blood analysis. The vessel also has a pierceable top cover (51) and comprises impermeable material at base and sides as compared with the container which is permeable throughout. The test tube (12) acting as container sides (18) are defined by base (16) and open top end (20) as closed off by a pierceable plug (14) to give an evacuated inside space (22) and a recessed part (34) between outer plug annulus (30) and its bottom rim (32) for the vessel. The vessel is located in the recessed part (34) when pressed in between test tube plug rim (32) on the vessel side (48) so the top rim of the wall area (48) seals onto the plug annulus (30) and together completes a mixing chamber. The first cannula end punctures the vessel top cover and the far end connects to blood sample stock, after which the cannula is withdrawn after puncturing the base but held in the plug to siphon the blood in for analysis once percolating through the additive and thence out back to the waiting test tube.
