The invention relates to an injection device (10) with a housing (15) and a container (12) for an injection fluid which can slide in relation to the housing between a distal and a proximal end position. The device also has a slide rod (14) which acts on a plunger (23) in the container (12) to expel fluid from the container. A drive connection (27) is provided between the slide rod (14) and container (12); this drive connection can act in both the proximal and distal directions when the container is in the distal end position, but when the container (12) is in the proximal end position can act only when the slide rod (14) moves in the distal direction.
