Ribs between longitudinal reflector plates in fluorescent lamp housing

A tubular lamp housing 10 containing a fluorescent tube 12 has two longitudinal reflector plates 22,24, joined by a number of other reflecting ribs 30 running transversely. These ribs are stampings from metal sheet, initially being generally annular with segments missing at opposite ends of a diameter. The narrow necks joining the two halves are then folded so that a U-shaped rib is formed. Where the missing segments are, there are a number of prongs stamped out which fit into matching slits in the reflector plates. The prongs themselves have pieces pushed out to form catches. The outer rib contour 32 matches the periphery of the lamp housing. The ribs and reflector plates are made from highly polished aluminium sheet.
