PURPOSE:To reduce heat energy loss and contrive to shorten the time for heating operation by method wherein heating rolls are heated under the state being covered before the feeding of material and, after that, during the feeding of material to the heating rolls, the above-mentioned heating is done under the state that at least the material charging portion and the material delivering portion of the heated rolls are open to the air. CONSTITUTION:Before the charging of material, a gate door 13 is installed on a cover 6 so as to shut off and cover the whole rolls 1 and 2 from the air side and heating medium is fed to the rolls for heating them. After that, when the surface temperatures of the rolls reaches the predetermined temperature and material is fed to the rolls 1 and 2, the gate door 13 is removed and at least a material charging portion 12 and a material delivering portion 9 are opened to the air side and heating is done under the state that the other roll portions except the door and the portions just mentioned above are covered. Accordingly, the heat released from the rolls 1 and 2 to the air side is suppressed to the utmost and the heat energy loss can be reduced. Especially, the time for roll heating operation before the feeding of material can be shortened. |
