The measure regulator (R5) has three tracks (X,Y,Z) with marking spaced at fixed intervals. Track X has a special mark which is longer than the other marks which are identical. Track Y has a single mark which is shorter than the other marks. The third track, Z, has all equal length and equal spaced marks. Three readers (LX, LY, LZ) read the length of the marks on each track. Outputs from the readers allow path differences between tracks to be determined. <IMAGE> |
