The support consists of a tube (1) of an elasticated fabric with two side reinforcing members (4) situated symmetrically along it. Each side member comprises an upper and a lower section (5, 6), the ends of which are fitted into non-stretch sleeves (7, 8), while their neighbouring ends are joined to central links (9) by two pivots (10, 11). The sleeves are connected to straps (12a, 12b; 13a, 13b) which go around the top and bottom of the support and are adjustable. The inner ends of the reinforcing members' sections are cranked outwards slightly to accommodate the links, which are made from a lightweight alloy and are adaptable to the shape of the patient's leg.
