The invention concerns a steering-column switch with a buffer spring which permits rotational contact between contacts rigidly mounted on the housing (2) of the steering-column switch and contacts on the rotatably mounted steering wheel. The aim of the invention is to simplify the mounting for the buffer spring. This is achieved by virtue of the act that an open recess for the buffer spring is cast on the switch housing, the recess being closed off by a cover which is mounted to rotate with respect to the housing. The buffer spring is thus integrated into the switch housing in such a way that a special spring housing is unnecessary. Preferred embodiments of the invention relate to an additional locking element which locks the cover so that it cannot rotate with respect to the switch housing when the switch is mounted. The locking element also ensures that the cover cannot be rotated with respect to the switch casing until the steering wheel has been mounted in place on the steering-wheel columns
