Multiple beam aerial with transmission and receiving equipment

An aerial arrangement, as based on the Luneburg-lens (1) model, is designed to reduce mfg. and design costs in comparison with complex phase aerial arrays which require a large number of components, leading to reduced reliability and to the necessity for narrow tolerances on phase transmission performance. It comprises a radiator having a radiation beam characteristic of a cluster or arrayed aerial comprising discrete aerials stacked one on the other and having the cylindrical shape of the lens, the cylinder height being at least as great as that of the radiator.
