摘要 The crankshaft of an IC engine has a segmented disc with a sensor measuring its angular position. An evaluator deduces the position from the sensor signals and stores it, ready for use to control the ignition timing and/or fuel injection. Angle evaluation continues after the ignition is switched off until the engine is stationary, and the last evaluation is stored and used initially for when the engine is re-started. A particular "phase" position is deduced from the crankshaft angle, and corresponding ignition or injection commands are triggered. This phase is monitored and corrected if necessary using plausibility tests immediately after the engine is started.
