The large object, such as a car body, is paint coated such that the coating of at least a part of the car body is followed by drying of the paint coat. During the drying the car body is oscillated at a frequency of at least 0.2 Hz and/or an external point of the car body has a max. amplitude of 50 cm. The oscillation, when passing through the car body axis, can be repeatedly reversed. Pref. the oscillation has a min. frequency of 0.5 Hz, typically at least 3 Hz. The car body oscillation has an amplitude of max. 10 cm, particularly max 5 cm.
