The pressure cooker comprises a container and lid which can lock together by the action of locking elements on their edges which engage when the lid is rotated relative to the container. An annular seal is provided between the two. The lid (2) is twisted in relation to the container (1) part of the pressure cooker so that the frictional coefficient at the contact point between the sealing ring (6) and the lid is less than the frictional coefficient at the contact point between the sealing ring and container.
