Heated press for joining spliced ends of conveyor belts

A press for connecting the spliced ends of a conveyor belt comprises: i) an upper press table with a bellows (37) on the working face; ii) a gas feeding system (39, 40) connected to the bellows (37) for inflation; iii) a lower press table (3) with a face (7) opposite the first press table; iv) solid heat insulation (17) on the face (7) of the lower press table (3); v) a heat sink (18) with high heat conductivity on top of the heat insulation (17) and having parallel flow channels (19); vi) a further gas supply system with a flow system connecting pressurised gas to the flow channels (19) for cooling purposes; vii) a suction tube device in the flow system for drawing air from atmosphere during flow of pressurised gas; viii) an electric heating element (24) on the heat sink (18) for belt heating. In a second version of the press air flows to the channels (19) of the heat sink (18) through channels running diagonally from one end of the insulation layer (17) to a side edge. An air supply feeds the channel at the end of the insulating layer (17). A similar press with an alternative air supply system is claimed.
