The invention concerns a protective device for welding, consisting of a frame part 4 with a window 5 made of a transparent material, at least from the inside, and a visor 1 on the inside of the frame part 4. The visor 1 can be pushed up in front of and away from the window by means of a swivel arm 6 arranged on the outside of the frame part 4. The visor 1 has at least two parts overlapping in the vertical direction, of which the welding glass part 2 has been arranged to satisfy the darkness conditions for welding and has, at its edge, a more light-transparent viewing part 3. <IMAGE>
