A wall plug (10) has a body portion (12) and leg portion (14). Legs (36,38) are defined by a zig-zag slit (20). Inclined flutes (82) are formed on the legs which provide better grip and resist rotation of the plug in a blind bore. Wings (40,42) are also formed on the legs and arranged so that they press against the back of a hollow wall when the legs are splayed by a screw passing through a longitudinal bore (24) of the plug. The body portion has arms (50,52) which are in a plan perpendicular to the legs so that expansion forces into the material of a blind bore are more evenly spread circumferentially. The arms (50,52) have chevron-shaped ridges (60) which resist rotation of the plug in a bore. Moreover the ridges extend around the sides of a base (58) of the arms to provide sharper biting points (64) to grip a bore

|
