The method for measuring drop-volume in an ink-jet printhead, which deposits multiple drops of ink to form printed images, involves printing a series of print samples on a recording media, individual samples being formed by individual drops of ink. The printing includes a step of changing a number of ink drops deposited in the individual print samples within the series to produce individual print samples with varying amounts of ink content. The series of samples is analysed to detect changes in ink content among them, and the drop-volume for the ink-jet printhead is determined based upon the detected changes in ink content among the samples within the series. The changing of the number of ink drops comprises depositing fewer ink drops in subsequent print samples within the series, so that the samples experience progressively greater ink depletion from initial samples to later samples. |
