NONCONTACT OBJECT DETECTOR AND OBJECT DETECTION METHOD

PURPOSE:To provide a noncontact object detector and its detection method capable of simplifying the structure by reducing the number of light casting part and detection means, relaxing maintenance, reducing power consumption and improving the discrimination accuracy. CONSTITUTION:Parallel beam 1 cast from a light casting part 2 is refracted and reflected by a plurality of reflector mirrors 4a to 4e and guided as to surround in polygon the circumference of an object to be detected. This part surrounded by this parallel beam is defined as detection region D and a means is provided to detect whether the parallel beam positioned outside the detection region is shielded or not. Whether the detecting object is arranged in the specified position in the detection region and the like is detected from whether the parallel beam is blocked on the way or not.
