摘要 <p>PURPOSE:To easily judge which virtual path the transmission is to be used for a node device according to a virtual path identifier from a terminal by providing the virtual path identifier and a virtual path identifier allocating means. CONSTITUTION:The virtual path identifier from a node device N1 to a node device N3 is defined as VPI1, and the virtual path identifier from the device N3 to the N1 is defined as VPI2. Further, the virtual path identifier from the device N3 to N5 is defined as VPI1 and the virtual path identifier from a device N2 to an N4 is defined as VPI2. Moreover, the virtual path identifier from the device N4 to N6 is also defined as VPI 2 or the like so that the virtual path identifiers from the device N3 to the N1 and from the device N3 to N5, for example, can be the different virtual path identifiers VPI2 and VPI1. On the other hand, since the virtual path identifiers VPI in the same direction are not equally overlapped on an ATM transmission line, a virtual path VP can be identified by two virtual path identifiers VPI.</p>
