PRODUCTION OF 2-CYANOIMIDAZOLE-BASED COMPOUND

PURPOSE:To simply obtain the subject compound useful as an intermediate for medicines and agrochemicals from readily available raw materials by reacting a specific amine compound containing carbonyl group with cyanogen. CONSTITUTION:This method for producing a 2-cyanoimidazole-based compound epressed by formula II [R<1> and R<2> are each H, a (substituted)alkyl, (substituted) phenyl or a (substituted)heterocyclic group or expressed and R<2> together may form a (substituted)alkylenel or its salt e.g. 2-cyapo-4-phenylimidazole) is to react (A) a compound expressed by formula I (e.g. 2-aminoacetophenone hydrochloride) with (B) cyanogen.
