PURPOSE:To provide a keyboard musical instrument capable of generating musical tones identical with the musical tones at the time of ordinary performance in silenced performance and exactly recording the performance when the ordinary performance is made. CONSTITUTION:This keyboard musical instrument has keys 10, hammer mechanisms 40 which strike the corresponding strings S turning when these keys 10 are pressed, silencing means 60 which are capable of selecting the state of the hammers 44 of these hammer mechanisms 40 of not striking the strings S by preventing the hammer mechanisms 40 from turning more than a prescribed extent and detecting means which detects the prescribed points of the hammer mechanisms 40 in the prescribed positions just before the hammers 4 strike the strings S. These detecting means are provided with timing correcting means for outputting the correction signals to correct the detection timing thereof.
