PRODUCTION OF LIQUID HYDROCARBON AND CARBON BLACK

PURPOSE:To efficiently and simply obtain a high-purity liquid hydrocarbon and carbon black at a high level useful as a reinforcing material, etc., for rubber products from a vulcanized rubber waste by thermally decomposing a vulcanized rubber in the presence of a hydrogen donative solvent. CONSTITUTION:This method for producing a liquid hydrocarbon and carbon black is to thermally decompose a vulcanized rubber (preferably a vulcanized rubber waste) in the presence of a hydrogen donative solvent (preferably a petroleum-based solvent containing a large amount of a polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon in which aromatic rings are partially hydrogenated such as tetralin), preferably at 400 deg.C temperature and 5-30kgf/cm<2> initial pressure at ambient temperature. Furthermore, the vulcanized rubber is preferably previously powdered or fragmented so as to be chargeable into a reactional vessel. The hydrogen donative solvent is preferably used at a weight ratio of (1:1) to (3:1) to the vulcanized rubber. The thermal decomposition is preferably carried out in the presence of nitrogen.
