PURPOSE:To make it possible to eliminate the increase in the number of parts and weight and the failure and cost increase of optical fibers occurring therein, which are the drawback of conventional optical connector, and to effectively prevent the optical axis misalignment generated between the fibers by mechanical vibration. CONSTITUTION:This optical connector in which the end faces of optical ferrules 25 respectively holding the end faces of two pieces of the optical fibers are butt-joined in an atmosphere deteriorating the optical fibers, consists of a hollow cylindrical slit sleeve 30 having openings to fit and hold the ends of the respective optical ferrules 25 at axial both ends. An adhesive 35 having nearly the same refractive index as the refractive index of the optical fibers is packed between the end faces of the optical fibers 10 held by the optical ferrules 25 fitted and held in this slit sleeve 10 to fix the optical fibers. |
