PURPOSE:To completely dry waste and to prevent a fire from being caused around a dryer or a molten material from adhering to the inner part of the dryer. CONSTITUTION:In a waste melting and processing device for drying a waste by a dryer 11 and then melting the waste in a melting furnace, a sub-duct 23 for guiding exhaust gas to the dryer 11 through a switching damper 41 branches to the ducts 21 and 22 of the exhaust gas discharged from the melting furnace. The detecting terminal of a thermometer is inserted into the ducts 21 and 22 of the exhaust gas discharged from the dryer 11 to which a heat source is attached or connected. Then, the thermometer is connected to a computing element 53. The opening degree of the switching damper 41 and the quantity of heat supplied to the dryer 11 from the heat source are adjusted based on a signal output from the computing element 53 in which the temperature of the exhaust gas discharged from the dryer 11 is set.
