PURPOSE:To simplify and miniaturize an ink residual amt. display device, to easily confirm the residual amts. of respective ink tanks and to minimize the lowering of the recording time required in the indication of the ink residual amts. in an ink jet recording apparatus having a plurality of ink tanks. CONSTITUTION:Ink residual amt. detectors 247 corresponding to a plurality of kinds of inks and residual amt. display devices 220 of which the number is less than the number of the kinds of inks are provided and a plurality of detected residual amts. are displayed in less order.
