PURPOSE:To reduce the size and thickness of an EL driving circuit by boosting a square wave by a booster circuit formed of a step-up transformer and a Cockcroft circuit, and converting it into an AC voltage by a DC-AC converter driven by the frequency divided square wave to drive an EL element. CONSTITUTION:The square wave from a square wave generating circuit 1 is boosted several times by the transformer T1 of a booster circuit 3, further boosted by a Cockcroft circuit 7, and supplied to a DC-AC converting circuit 7. This circuit 7 is driven by the frequency divided square wave divided by a frequency dividing circuit 4 to output an EL element driving high-voltage AC voltage. When the electronic parts other than a step-up transformer are formed by chipped lead-less parts, a small-sized and thinned EL element driving circuit having a booster circuit in which the transformer and the Cockcroft circuit are combined together can be provided.
