PURPOSE:To prevent partial separation of carbon fiber in an aggregated state as much as possible in the process of kneading short-fiber carbon fiber and carbonaceous powder, and thereby, to produce a C/C composite precursor having excellent dispersibility of the fiber. CONSTITUTION:The short-fiber carbon fiber and carbonaceous powder containing a binder component and/or compounded with a binder component are mixed and kneaded in the presence of 5-40wt.% monohydric alcohol and 5-15wt.% dihydric alcohol to obtain a short fiber reinforced C/C composite precursor. By this method, a C/C composite precursor having the short-fiber carbon fiber uniformly dispersed in a matrix carbon is easily obtd. The mechanical characteristics of a short fiber reinforced C/C composite produced from this precursor are improved, and a dense product is obtd. Thus, a process to impregnate a product with pitch is omitted or reduced. Moreover, the precursor is easily inserted into a molding die, which improves the production efficiency of the C/C composite. |
