PURPOSE:To make it possible to obtain a sufficient effect without embrittlement of a structure according to oxidation of carbon by abrupt thermal impact and air inflow and generation, etc., of wear by molten steel flow. CONSTITUTION:This upper nozzle brick for an alumina-carbon-base sliding gate is obtd. by adding a boron modified resin contg. 10 to 50wt.% B at 0.5 o 10wt.% as a binder to the upper nozzle brick and subjecting the mixture to stages including kneading, molding, drying and calcining. The resulted upper nozzle brick has high oxidation resistance. The oxidation resistance and the service life are improved by adding the boron modified phenolic resin. |
