In the mfr. of matching handles from CORIAN (RTM) for mounting onto flat, e.g. door or drawer, surfaces, a strip of CORIAN (RTM) is cut from a sheet, heated and placed in a mould cavity carrying the required shape to which it is bent. After bending, the handle is allowed to cool in the mould before removal. The strip of material is pref. heated for half-an-hour to 170 deg C prior to bending and is allowed to cool in the mould pref. in accordance with a time-temperature curve which is generally a mirror-image of the heating curve. The mounting surfaces at either end of the handle lie pref. in the same plane and are pref. finished by grinding and/or polishing after forming. Threaded holes are pref. formed in the mounting surface for fixing of the handles. The strip is pref. bent in a die form in which the tightest bend radius is set at least 10 times the thickness of the strip, measured in the plane of bending. The handle is pref. bent generally in the form of a 90 deg arc of a circle.
